Singapore signs Hong Kong's air travel bubble contract

An air travel bubble will be opened on November 22 by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) and the Singapore Tourism Board (STB).

Described as a landmark for the global tourism industry, the Hong Kong-Singapore Air Travel Bubble agreement paves the way for safe and quarantine-free cross-border air travel. 

The bilateral relationship shows the strong links between the destinations, as well as the joint commitment to providing a secure travel experience for tourists.

Last month, Australia signed a similar contract with New Zealand.

This is an extremely important moment which demonstrates to the world that safe international travel is possible and paves the way for us to take tourist flights to and from other markets.

City-wide certification programs have also been placed in place by HKTB and STB to ensure the safety of travelers and restore travel trust. 

The air travel bubble is a significant milestone that demonstrates the deep ties and close friendship between Singapore and Hong Kong, said STB Chief Executive, Keith Tan. Singapore is well-equipped to cope with the Covid-19 crisis, and with our good track record, we are sure that Singapore can be explored with a peace of mind by Hong Kong travellers.

The tourist boards of the two cities will conduct joint promotional activities as part of the agreement.

Special gifts have also been planned by both tourism boards to welcome the first batch of tourists to the bubble, such as a reusable face mask in a limited edition that displays special features of both cities.
